Events

The Centre has been making significant strides in developing nanonutrients, nanopesticides and nanoformulations. Keeping in mind deteriorating soil health, growing demand of food, water safety are the biggest challenges, the Centre is uniquely poised to develop path breaking technologies using biologicals interwoven with nanotechnologies and biocompatible materials jointly through strategic collaborations with Deakin University and partners worldwide.

2nd International Conference on Nanobiotechnology for Agriculture 2018 December 13-14, 2018

The Second International Conference on "Nanobiotechnology for Agriculture: Detection, Conservation and Responsible use of Natural Resources" is being organized from 13th - 14th December 2018, jointly by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India and TERI Deakin Nanobiotechnology Centre at Gurugram.

Video-conferencing cum Discussion Forum on innovation and advancements in "Next Generation Microencapsulation Technology For New Bacterial Formulation in Agriculture" & "Novel Micro Algal Isolates With Multiple Product Potential" on 8th February, 2018 at TERI GRAM, Gurugram

This meet brought together stakeholders from select industries with the following aims:
- To showcase thematic areas through presentations as well as selected technology snapshots
- To provide an interactive platform for industries to take advantage from the achievements and get engaged in discussions and suggestions for customized technology development or transfer of existing technology or the product.

Around 35 industries from agriculture, chemicals and fertilizers, biofuels, food and nutraceuticals sectors participated and contributed in terms of their experiences and challenges faced in the thematic areas.

Stakeholder's Consultative Meeting on "Innovations & Advancements in Nano biotechnology for Agriculture & Regulatory Policy Guidelines" on December 13, 2017 at TERI GRAM, Gurugram

This stakeholders meet brought together selected industries and key government officials and provided an interactive platform for industries and its research and development for the purpose of scientific discussion on current and future nanotechnologies, showcasing new technology snapshots, and to promote nanotechnology innovations and knowledge transfer. The meeting also provided a platform for the top management from the industry and policy makers to participate with their inputs and suggestions and be part of the policy framing guidelines to the recently released zero draft policy by TERI on "Nano products and its regulations" during NANOFORAGRI 2017 Conference that was organized by TDNBC in partnership with DBT on 20-21 November, 2017. A facility visit of TDNBC was also a part of the day-long meeting.

Around 25 industries from nanotechnology sector participated and shared their experiences of commercializing nano products in the market.

Nanobiotechnology for Agriculture: From Research to Innovation on November 20-21, 2017 at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi

TERI-Deakin Nanobiotechnology Centre (TDNBC), in partnership with The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India organized the International Conference on Nanobiotechnology for Agriculture: From Research to Innovation on 20-21 November 2017 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi and TERI Gram, Gurugram.

The Conference brought together renowned global speakers along with ˜175 participants and provide an interactive platform for budding young scientists from R&D institutes, academia and the Industry from across the globe for the purpose of scientific discussion on current practices and future scope of nanotechnologies, to promote future collaborations for accelerated product development for agricultural applications, identify the innovation space.

The Hon. Minister of Education and Training, Government of Australia, Simon Birmingham, and Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Dr Ashutosh Sharma, graced the Centre with their august presence on 11th April 2017.


Professor Joe Graffam, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Development and Training) of Deakin University visited TDNBC on 22nd March 2017. He conducted the PhD Extra Workshop at TDNBC.

Visit of Prof Gary Smith Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) on 3rd December, 2016. Professor Gary Smith was appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) in May 2013. In this role he provides strategic leadership at Deakin.

Prof. Bas Baskaran, Associate Dean (International), Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, Deakin University visited TD NBC in October 2016.


Prof. Guy Littlefair visited the TD NBC on 30th September 2016. Professor Guy Littlefair is the Dean of Engineering in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and the Built Environment at Deakin University in Australia, having been appointed as chair in Engineering in January 2011.


Dr. Ye Win Aung visited on 23rd September, 2016. Dr. Aung has professional history of working as a Program Manager (Coordination) in Burnet Institute Myanmar and Myanmar Partnerships and Liaison Manager for Deakin University (since June 2016). Dr.Aung has worked for low-income and vulnerable as well as refugee populations in the public health thematic areas of prevention and control of communicable diseases, behavior change communications, social marketing and franchising, community-based research and public health education.
