FFS Summer School Program

“Frontiers of Future Science” (FFS) is a twelve day summer school program for students of grade IXth to XIIth organized by TERI-Deakin Nanobiotechnology Centre; a world class institute within TERI’s Sustainable Agriculture Division. The program is first of its kind in India to promote research perspective and transformative educational experience to high achievers and ambitious students. The program is an experience to explore the horizon of opportunities through interactive classroom lectures and insightful practical learning techniques that invoke a path of self-discovery among students.

“In current times, skill sets and knowledge are needed to be strengthened right from elementary school education.

TDNBC feels that we can contribute in that mission by organizing regular summer programmes for school students. Intentions here are to enthuse students about excitements linked with science and introduce them with frontiers of knowledge and infrastructure.

TDNBC offers most diverse yet relevant expertise under one roof with world class infrastructure. We strongly feel that such an opportunity would be most apt and timely for school students to take benefit and remain enthusiastic about science and its versatility.”

The Experience

Students will benefit from participatory learning experiences that are facilitated by our multi-disciplinary faculty – student interactions, innovative learning methods, and the experience of world class laboratories. Through this, students would be challenged to explore new areas of interest, add value to their regular educational programs, prepare for higher education, and for their future careers. It would be an opportunity for the students to experience our zero vehicle green campus at TERI GRAM, with vast expanse of green belt with rose gardens, ecofriendly GRIHA Rated TERI retreat, Micropropagation Technology Park (MTP), and various renewable energy technologies.

Vision

TERI has a long history of engaging with school students to promote environmental education and awareness through a network of over 50,000 schools and 10,000 colleges in India. In our efforts to address the challenges for sustainable development, TERI strives to ensure that our knowledge and research reaches varied audiences, which includes governments, media, youth, and civil society. Popularising environment education among school students, TERI has been conducting “The Green Olympiad”, in India and abroad since 1999.

TERI Deakin Nanobiotechnology Centre (TDNBC), a super specialty center within TERI’s Sustainable Agriculture Division was established in 2011 to cater to cutting edge translational research in the field of Nanotechnology and Biotechnology.

TDNBC which has been engaging with national and international researchers through collaborative research is mindful that science needs nurturing from a very young age. With this in mind, TDNBC is opening its door to the school children to come and experience how scientific solutions through research can touch the lives of millions. Through its summer school program, TDNBC strives to create enough interest and curiosity in our youth through our multi-disciplinary faculty and state-of-the-art facility so that they are inclined to choose science as their career.
